A pantry is usually one of the must haves in a kitchen. It becomes a place to store all the extra food, canisters, dishes and anything else. What about actually showcasing your pantry like this one?

Animals on the wall

Although not a huge animal lover, I absolutely love anything related to animals around the house. Figurines, bookends, artwork that feature animals are all up my alley. I stumbled on this store last week which sells prints of animals. It is such a cute little store.

Sitting around the table

Continuing with the dining room theme this week, I thought I would showcase a really cool idea I recently saw. 

 If your table is configured where bench with the table, use a headboard behind the bench. This is a great way to no one sits with there back against the hard wall. Also a plus, a headboard can easily be DIY'ed.

West Elm always KILLS it with great furniture. Their furniture is a great creates a strong balance of unique and versatile. Their Librarian Dining Storage is no exception:

The reclaimed pine drawers coupled with hairpin legs is a creative take on the beloved card catalogue. The hairpin legs are a rather unexpected look on the solid, bulky card catalogue found in the Library. As our nation becomes more electronic and the focus more on reading books on our Kindles or Ipads rather than checking out a book at the local Library, it is comforting to these old pieces popping up in the home. Come to find out a card catalogue is a great way to store odds and ends and looks a lot better than a 'junk drawer'.

Ordinary to Extraordinary

One of the best things of design is the ability to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary. I love to look for different approaches to designing a home. I came across these pictures of showers that used two shower curtains and instantly loved the idea.

It takes something mundane (like a shower and shower curtain) and makes it more interesting. Using two shower curtains makes the room look more elegant and the shower more luxurious. What do you think? What else around the house can you do to turn something ordinary to extraordinary?

Townhouse in Whittier

This weekend I found myself in a beautiful industrial loft located in Whittier. It had exposed piping and brick walls, a master suite open to the downstairs, barn pocket doors and cement floors. It was a very unique home but quintessential to the changing Whittier neighborhood, where not that long ago the neighborhood featured only art and craftsmen style homes. Just as unique as the home, were the accent pieces through the home.

Of course, this knife holder was the best.
