If you are anything like me, you have far too much jewelry. My necklaces clutter my bathroom sink until I eventually get fed up and store them in a box, never using them. I have seen a lot of DIY projects for ideas on how to store and showcase your jewelry but this idea was one of the best I have seen yet.

Call me old fashioned but I love writing handwritten notes. There is something about going to your mailbox and getting something other than a bill. In the age of email, texts and social media, taking the time to sit down and write a note makes you stand out. Not only that, I am a firm believer the receiver of such a letter feels a more personal connection and touched. 

Do you send out handwritten cards or do you think it is a lost art? I ask this as I prepare to put 15 thank you cards in the mail. Keeping track of stamps is another story....

Hate your laminate countertops?

Granite countertops are often on the top of buyers list when purchasing a new home. Installing granite countertops into the kitchen can be an expensive endeavor. A less expensive option is concrete countertops. Concrete can offer a lot of the same benefits as granite with a slightly different look (and feel).

If you find yourself in a home with laminate counters there are many options to replace it with. If you are considering concrete countertops, you do not need to replace the laminate. Instead, you can pour the concrete over the laminate countertops. Although, I have never done it there are a number of resources out there that explain how to do it and of course 'after' pictures that look great. Pocket Doors

Yesterday I was showing a home to a buyer in Cherry Creek. Of course it was a beautiful condo but there were a number of mirrored sliding doors. Almost all of the closet doors looked like this: 

My client asked what other options they had if they chose to replace these doors. One of the options I love for closets are pocket doors. This would require the mirrored doors to be completely removed but who will miss them?

Want to bring in a little more natural light? Use a frosted pocket door. 

 

Another option would be a pocket door with a mirror. This is great for a closet or bathroom, rooms that you can never have too many mirrors in. 

 Looking to add a pop of color to your room? Paint the pocket door!
