Shared Bedrooms

As a child my sister and I shared a room for a short time. We both had twin beds with matching Popples comforter. Maybe it is because the first 5 years of my life involved sharing a bedroom with my sister but nothing melts my heart more than seeing two twin beds in a bedroom, especially decorated as a child's room. I have seen some great ideas on how to separate the room to allow both children to have their own space and personality. 

Different color, but same design, comforters can create a unique space for each child.

Navy and Black

Black and navy. Once a style no-no is now becoming a very popular combination. Black and navy paired together can create a very powerful combination in both fashion and the home.

How do you feel about black and navy together? Would you do it? I am not usually a person to adhere to style rules and much prefer to march to the beat of my own drum. Although, navy and black is the one fashion rule I did follow and I am very happy it no longer seems to be a faux pas.

Inviting Beds

I have been a little under the weather this week. I am completely run down and would much prefer to be in bed rather than attempting to work through my illness. I digress since that is not an option currently. Instead, I have just been swooning over beds that make me want to crawl in and sleep.....

How inviting do these beds look? The best one? Of course the one with a water view!

A large canvas over the bed

The bed is often one the biggest focal points in a bedroom. There are numerous ways to draw the eye immediately to the bed upon entering the bedroom. A great way  to accomplish this is over sized paintings behind the bed.

The Bed Debacle Part Two

Now that I have decided to put my bed in front of the window,I just have to pick out a bed! When I sold all my furniture in New Hampshire, I was excited to do something completely different with my new bedroom. 

Here are the contenders:

I love the Moroccan style and the cutouts that would let sun come through.

I adore the rounded curves on this bed. Often we see sharp lines in beds but the curves on this makes it softer and welcoming.

Simple and modern. This cutout would allow sun to come through if I have it in front of the window.

The Bed Debacle Part One

I have a drastically smaller room here in Denver, it is actually about 1/3 of the size I had in New Hampshire. Its a great room though, tall walls, loads of sun the only one issue is... where will I actually put my furniture? It is longer than it is wide, the shorter wall being where the large window is. Shy of taking a picture of my room (there are still too many boxes in there to get a good picture of it), I drew a diagram of it:

This room would be perfect for the bed in front of the window. Typically, I try to avoid this look but I think it will make the room look bigger and allow me to get another dresser in there (I also lost a walk in closet in this move). Generally my concern with beds in front of the window is it blocking natural sunlight but the window in this room is huge. It almost runs floor to ceiling, starting about four feet from the floor and goes to the ceiling (it ends up being about 90 inches in length).

Am I the only one who typically strays away from the bed in front of the window? What are you thoughts on this look?
