Gratitude

I saw this quote the other day and it spoke to me. It has been a whirlwind of a few weeks, which is great but when life gets busy it is easy to not stop. The momentum builds and builds and unless you take time to appreciate what you have, it doesn't happen. This quote made me stop in my tracks. It is imperative to stop and practice gratitude for everything we have.
What are you grateful for?

Buyers Series: Commission 101

As a buyer, commission can be a bit confusing. Often agents will gloss over it, not because they are trying to pull a fast one but because it is not paid by you! The seller pays both the buyer and listing agents commission. A real estate agent is only paid when you purchase a home. Any effort, time, resources put in prior to the closing is unpaid until you close on the home of your dreams.

In the initial consultation, your real estate agent will go over commission with you. In Denver, market standard is 2.8% for a buyers agent. In the instance a seller is offering less, your real estate agent will explain what would occur. Commission and duties would be outlined in the contract between you (the buyer) and you real estate agent.

Black Trim

Looking to make a striking statement in your home? Consider painting your interior window trim black. Black trim accentuates the windows making them look like a feature of the room.

How do you feel black trim for the windows?

Rustic Bear

I have always been a person that loves to bring the outside in the home. Incorporating outdoor elements can help create a rustic feel in the home. Living in Colorado, it is hard not to want to incorporate the great outdoors into our homes as it is often what drive a lot of people to Colorado. If you are looking for shelving with a rustic touch look no further than this bear bathroom door shelf found here.

This shelf is a great way to show your love of the outdoors in a unique. What do you have in your home to show your love from the great outdoors?

Rain, Rain Go Away!

The past two weeks have been out of character for Denver. It has been grey, cloudy and rainy. Denver is lucky enough to experience 300+ days of the year of sunshine so this weather is definitely a rarity. Truth be told, it is starting to remind me of the weather on the East Coast. Actually, the East Coast is getting better weather than Denver right now, which is not acceptable!

Close to two weeks of this type of weather starts to affect you. I am finding myself a bit more tired, negative and grumpy. Frustrated, I keep checking the weather only to see no sunshine until next week, which accentuates my feelings of despair. Yesterday, I had enough. I was feeling sorry for the awful weather, and myself something I have no control over. I have decided not to allow the lack of sun to bring me down. When the sun refuses to come out, you have to create your own sunshine!

Denver, how are you handling the weather lately? What are you doing to create your own sunshine?

The 'Putting Your Home on the Market' nerves

It's scary. It's nerve-wracking. The anticipation is overwhelming. What is it, you ask? It is the week before you put your home up for sale. You spend weeks leading up to it going on the market cleaning, organizing, de-cluttering and making minor repairs. In addition to all of that stress, you are probably planning where to stay the first weekend your home hits the market, as there will be many people that pass through your home.

Here are a few tops to calm your nerves before your home hits the market and help prevent a feeling of overwhelm.

The 'Other' Animal Print

I won't lie over the past few years I have gotten into the animal print trend. I don't discriminate; giraffe, zebra, leopard and cheetah. Lately I have found a new animal print antelope. Comparatively, it is a bit more subdued than its animal friends and it seems like it would be a great option if you were looking to venture into animal print for the first time. Here are a few ideas of how to bring the antelope print into your home.

As a runner for the stairs:

Rug in a study/library:

In the bedroom:

Paired with stripes:

Paired with floral:

Have no need for a rug but want to incorporate antelope into your home? Use wallpaper!

Where else would you put the antelope pattern in your home?
